The 17th Euroconference on Apoptosis -

6th Training course on Concepts and Methods in Programmed Cell Death

The 17th Euroconference on Apoptosis will take place in Paris, France from September 23 till September 26, 2009. The 6th Training course on 'Concepts and Methods in Programmed Cell Death' will be held on the first day of the conference (September 23 in the afternoon).

 

The Conference and Training Course will take place in the Institut Pasteur. A wide variety of hotels, in different price categories, is available for lodging.  Paris can easily be reached by plane and train from most European cities.
 

Every year, we welcome about 300 people from all over the world. The focus of the conference, the special attention for the poster presentations and short oral communications, the common lunches and social programs create an atmosphere of stimulating discussions and contacts. Therefore, the ECDO conferences are considered as one of the best meetings in the field of cell death research.

Women Career Mentoring Workshop

Following the 17th Euroconference on Apoptosis, The Marie Curie Research Training Network „ApopTrain“ and the International Cell Death Society are organising the Women Career Mentoring Workshop. This workshop will provide a unique discussion forum for receiving valuable advice for advancing your career in cell death research from senior leaders in the field.

The workshop is open to members of the Marie Curie Research Training Network „ApopTrain“, members of the International Cell Death Society and all attendees of the 17th Euroconference on Apoptosis irrespective of gender. There is no registration fee, however, advanced registration is mandatory for organisational matters.

Scholarships

 

ECDO will grant 25 scholarships to students/young postdocs attending the meeting. The scholarships are to be used for

  • reimbursement of the registration fee (max 250 euro)

  • travel and/or accommodation expenses (max. 500 euro on a real cost basis).

The applications will be evaluated by the ECDO board. Applications for a grant will only be considered if they are accompanied by an online registration to the conference.

 

Eligibility rules:

  • Abstract submission is essential to be eligible for a scholarship.

  • Only PhD students or young postdocs having less than 10 years of research experience since gaining a university degree giving access to doctoral studies in the country in which the degree was obtained, can apply for a scholarship.

Application procedure:

Please send the following documents to the ECDO secretariat only by e-mail:

  • a PDF of the abstract you submitted online through the online abstract submission system

  • Your Curriculum Vitae, clearly stating your personal details (including date of birth and nationality) and an overview of your educational and professional career (with dates!).

  • A letter of motivation why you want to attend the conference

  • A list of publications (can be included in the CV file)

  • a (signed) supporting letter from the head of the department/lab.

The deadline for scholarship application is July 1, 2009.

 

Reimbursement procedure:

All costs (registration fee, travel and accommodation) must be advanced by the beneficiary. After the meeting, costs will be reimbursed by bank transfer only upon delivery of the original documents (registration invoice, hotel invoice, train/flight/metro/bus tickets, boarding passes in case of electronic tickets). In case the institute of the beneficiary has advanced all costs, a formal declaration of the financial department of costs already reimbursed, together with copies of the original documents is needed for the reimbursement. Bank information can be filled in on the reimbursement  form (available in the mail sent on 15/07/2009), which should be signed and sent back with the original documents.
