Welcome!

We are pleased to announce that on the special occasion of the 20th anniversary of its foundation the 20th Euroconference on Apoptosis and the 9th Training course on 'Concepts and Methods in Programmed Cell Death' will be held in Rome (Italy) from September 14-17, 2012, at the conference centre "ANGELICUM", located in the archaeological heart of the "Eternal City" of Rome.

We would like to welcome you to Rome, the Capital of Italy, to discover the City built 9th century BC on 7 hills in which you can experience a unique touch with history. Indeed, Rome is more than a fascinating European capital city, it is a spectacular encyclopedia of living history. The city of Rome had achieved a grandeur as the the capital of an empire, which, at its peak (50-100 years BC), covered an area from Scotland and Morocco to Middle East. Every century, gentlemen of Rome from generals to emperors, from popes to princes, have left their personal stamp on the city. They have hired artists and architects to design the most famous buildings, sculptures and paintings which today give the city its enchanting appearance. Today, Rome is also an important scientific pole with three public and several private universities as well as important research centres. An example is the location of the ECDO 2012 venue, via Panisperna, were a group of young scientists led by Enrico Fermi (Noble Laureate in Physics in 1938) made the famous discovery of slow neutrons which made later possible the nuclear reactor.
ECDO 2012 in Rome is the biggest and most important cell death research meeting hitherto organised in Italy. We anticipate welcoming 300 to 400 international participants, renowned researches, young investigators in training, clinical doctors and students. ECDO is established as a scientifically excellent and intense meeting, and the most prominent researchers in the field consider this to be the most important conference to participate in.

It has been said that all roads lead to Rome.....thus we hope to welcome you in the Eternal City at the 20th Euroconference on Apoptosis!
