Etienne Meylan received a PhD in Life Sciences from the University of Lausanne in 2006, for his work on innate immunity performed in the laboratory of Jürg Tschopp. From 2007 to 2010, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Tyler Jacks, at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, MIT, USA. After establishing his research laboratory at EPFL in Lausanne and ULB in Brussels, he has recently been appointed as Associate Professor at the University of Lausanne. His lab studies the mechanisms that govern the development of lung cancer, with a current focus on intercellular communication systems and signaling pathways that impact tumor cells, the immune system -with an emphasis on tumor-associated neutrophils- and tumor metabolism. Because immune and metabolic alterations could influence tumor development profoundly, understanding these crucial perturbations of tumors may lead to new perspectives of treatment.
